To start this mission you have to find the man named Lemuel laying under the bridge. The man keeps repeating the words "Butcher's Creek", so Arthur decides to take him there. You will be able to find this man when you reach chapter six of the game.

A collapsed, sick man is returned to Butcher Creek and more is revealed about the village.

Objectives of The Wisdom of the Elders

1. Pick up the stranger / Take the stranger to Butcher Creek

Put Lemuel on your horse and take him to Butcher Creek.

4. Return to Butcher Creek and check in on Obediah (Part II)

The rescued villager will mention to you another villager named Kain who needs help.

A moment later, Kain will come running from the other side of the bridge and behind him two wild dogs, kill them.

Follow the villages and kill the wild dogs that attack you until you reach Obediah's house.

Once you have eliminated all the dogs and you are safe, the villagers will gather near Obediah's house. Sadly, they don't want to believe Arthur that they were attacked only by wild dogs and they keep talking about demons.

After a while, a shaman will appear in the village. He will begin to talk about the curse and the charms that can be found in the forest.

The villagers are heavily influenced by the shaman so Arthur decides to destroy the charms about which the shaman spoke in order to lift the curse.

Butcher Creek is saved from a pack of wild dogs and details of the curse on the town come to light.

10. Let Obediah and the Shaman know that you have destroyed all the charms (Part IV)

Return to the village and inform about the removal of the charms. Obediah will be happy and the shaman on the contrary.

Arthur suspects that the shaman has something to do with the curse and eventually will force him out of the village.

Obediah tells you about a nearby mine that might have something to do with the curse and Arthur will decide to check it out.

11. Investigate the mine (Part V)

When the charms around Butcher Creek are destroyed, a mine near the village becomes the next place to look for the source of the curse.

Approach the entrance, rip off one of the boards and you will be able to go inside.

Follow the tunnel all the time straight until you reach a cave.

The water in the caves is poisoned. Arthur will take a sample of it.

When he does, he'll realize that he's not alone in the cave and he'll start running after the mysterious person. But an explosion will occur, which will collapse the entrance to the cave.

13. Escape the mine

The only way out of the cave is through a gap in one of the walls.

14. Return to Butcher Creek

Go back to the village. When you get there, you will see how the shaman tries to trick the villagers into signing a document in which they will hand over their land to a mining company.

Arthur will try to explain to the villagers what is the cause of their illness and to do so, he will force the shaman to drink a sample of the water he took from the mine. Then the shaman will confess what he wanted to achieve.
