The Sheep and the Goats Red Dead Redemption 2 Mission

1. Lead your horse and walk with John / Hitch your horse on the hitching post

John will take you to the gun store located on Valentine's main street.

2. Meet up with John at the Gun store / Enter the Gun store / Speak to the gunsmith

Go into the store and talk to the gunsmith.

Open the catalogue, view the rifles section, and purchase the Rolling Block Rifle. Yes, it's not a mistake, the price is "promotional" - $0.

3. Meet up with John / Mount your horse / Follow John

Get out of the store, get on your horse and follow John.

Along the way, John will explain to you the details of his plan. Eventually, you will reach the top of one of the hills from which you will have a very good view of the landscape below.

In the distance you will notice the ranchers leading the herd of sheep and John will tell you to scare them by putting a bullet in the ground near them.

4. Shoot near the ranchers to scare them off

Use your new rifle and shoot near the ranchers. The first shot will scare the two ranchers who ride away, but one will still remain. Shoot again near the one who is still there and he will also escape.

5. Mount your horse / Ride to the herd / Return the separated sheep to the herd

Get on the horse and ride down to the herd. The herd's a little scattered, you've got to get all the sheep together. Sheep that have moved away from the herd are marked yellow and will turn grey when they return to the herd. The key is to approach the sheep from the opposite direction you want them to go, so that they move away from you and towards the destination.

6. Herd the sheep to the Auction Yard

There are a total of 15 sheep you have to take care of. Try to keep the herd between yourself and your destination - auction yard in Valentine. You can also shout to speed them up a bit, but since you don't have to hurry, it's not necessary.

If any sheep break away from the herd, immediately move to drive it back into the herd. You need all of them to meet the gold medal requirement.

7. Speak with the Auctioneer

Talk to the auctioneer. He is aware of where your sheep come from, so he will want a share of your profits and you will bargain with him. John is much better at bargaining than Arthur.

8. Mount your horse / Meet Dutch in the saloon

Get on your horse and go to Keane's Saloon in Valentine where you will meet Dutch and Leopold Strauss.

John and Strauss will leave you after a while and you and Dutch will start drinking and talking to each other.

Your conversation will be interrupted by the shouts coming from the street. It will turn out that you have been found by Leviticus Cornwall, who together with his henchmen captured John and Strauss and is waiting for you outside.

You and Dutch will calmly go outside the saloon. Dutch will try to talk to your opponents and get their attention.

9. Eliminate the Henchmen

Slowly fill up the Dead Eye meter and when it's full, start shooting at your opponents.

When you eliminate the opponents standing in front of saloon, the next ones will come. The first reinforcements will come from the left side.

Slowly push your way north, towards the main street of the city. Remember that in order to get a gold medal you cannot use health items and that you need to get 25 headshots in total.

10. Get to the cart and cover gang / Move with the cart

At some point, Strauss will be injured in his leg and placed on a cart standing on the street.

Dutch and John will take care of pushing the cart across the street and it will be up to you to provide them with a cover. Follow the cart as close as you can so you can use it to protect yourself from enemy fire. Kill the enemies who show up in the street and balconies.

At the end of the street, Dutch and John will run for horses, leaving you with Strauss.

11. Pick up Strauss / Get to the horses / Put Strauss on John's horse

Before picking him up, make sure you eliminate nearby enemies, especially the sniper on the roof of the stable.

When you're ready, take Strauss out of the cart, carry him to the horses and place him onto the horse John is sitting on.

Your companions will go to your camp and you will stay where you are.

12. Escape from Valentine / Escape the law

At this point you can jump on your horse and leave Valentine and then escape the law. Once you have done that, the mission will be over.

However, if you are still missing the headshots needed to get a gold medal, stay in town for a while and kill a few more enemies who appear. But run away before it gets too dangerous.
