This mission begins automatically after completing the Paradise Mercifully Departed mission. Arthur will come ashore at the Van Horn Trading Post.
Arthur heads for Shady Belle to try to track down the rest of the gang.

To begin Dear Uncle Tacitus you must first complete Paradise Mercifully Departed.
Objectives of Dear Uncle Tacitus
1. Look for the gang at Shady Belle
In the town you will find a horse you can "borrow" to get to Shady Belle.
It will be a relatively long journey but an attractive soundtrack will make it more enjoyable.
2. Search both floors of the mansion for signs of the gang
Enter the building through the main entrance and pick up the letter that lies on the table in the room on the ground floor on the right side. The letter will tell you where you should look for the other gang members.
After reading the letter, the Pinkertons patrol will show up.
3. Go to Lakay
You can of course kill the agents but if you want to earn the gold medal you should leave the building quietly, get on your horse and ride away.
Wait till one of the agents walks past you to the next room.
The agent checking the room where the entrance door is located should be turned backwards to you.
Use this and leave the house through the main entrance.
Your horse is tied to a tree at some distance from the house. Get on it and ride away from the house.
Most of the way to Lakay the game will proceed automatically.
You only need to travel the last short distance.
When you get to Lakay, you will meet your friends there and this mission will end.
After completing Dear Uncle Tacitus you will get or will be able to get Fleeting Joy.
