Guide Stands are used for fast travel within the region you are in. You will unlock the ability to use them when you reach the Sandy Oasis in Alabasta. To use them, enter the game map, press the appropriate key / button (as long as the game allows it at the time) to display the registered points (list of available locations). Then select the location you want to travel to. You can travel to these points from anywhere. You can increase the registered points by checking the guide stands placed around the world.
