Quest Group: Main Quests

Planet: Cantonica

This is the first main quest available in Star Wars Outlaws that you get shortly after starting a new game. You begin in your room in the attic of Canto Bight cantina. Go downstairs and talk to the bartender Bram. He will hand you your Broken Data Spike.

Quest stages of Beginnings

1. Repair the data spike at Preeban's shop. / Acquire credits to pay Preeban.

Leave the bar through the main exit. The quest journal will be unlocked, and your first task will be to find a way to repair the data spike and then use it to steal a forged ID card that will allow you to leave the planet.

Everyone in Canto Bight will be focused on the Canto Cup race, which is the perfect time for a job. Kay knows that the Sixth Kin keep identicards in their safe at Club Tarsus. She will need one to finally hitch a ride off-world.

Head in the direction pointed by the yellow main quest marker displayed on the compass, which should appear in the upper part of the screen when you enter the streets of Canto Bight. This way you will easily get to the shop where Preeban is working.

Preeban will charge you 50 credits for his service. You don't have that much so you have to get them first. You can do this in several ways.

1. Collect valuable items that can be found on the streets of the town, which you can then sell at a vendor - there is one not far from the entrance to Preeban's shop. Valuable items are marked with quite well-visible blue tags.

You can use your little companion Nix to pick up or interact with the items or objects. For example, you can command him to "fetch" you an item that is out of your reach.

2. You can use Nix to steal credits from some of the NPCs roaming the streets of the town.

3. You can bet some at the fathier racing terminal located in the cantina. To increase the amount of credits you have, you must bet on the mount that will win the next race. There is a simple way to find out which mount it will be. To do this, find a man sitting on the streets of the city with whom you can talk, his name is Valek. He will tell you about a datapad that contains a clue about the mount that will win the next race and give you 20 credits. You can find this datapad on a round table nearby. In my case, the clue was "The Pykes told me that they've fixed the next race. A fathier that's 4 years old is the winner." but it is random.

Head back to the cantina, check the stats of the mounts participating in the race and place a bet on the one that matches the clue. You can place a bet of 5 credits and win 44. After a while, your credit balance should rise.

When you have enough credits, talk to Preeban and turn over the credits. He will hand you the repaired data spike.

Data Spike

A patched-up data spike used to open locked doors and containers.

An electronic tool that hijacks computer systems through a scomp link socket. While not a surefire solution, it's an essential part of a slicer's toolkit.

2. Find a way into Club Tarsus.

Follow the compass marker and after a while you will reach the door to the club. You can try to talk to the two guys guarding the entrance, but you'll only learn that you definitely won't get inside this way. So you must find another way in.

Turn left and move forward until you reach an area with a half-open garage gate. Duck down and pass under this half-open gate inside.

Find a way into Club Tarsus.

To move on you will have to complete a simple mini game. You have to use your data spike and unlock the door located in the garage.

Once you get to the alley located on the other side of the door, you will face a bit of climbing / parkour. Use the grapling hook to get up and then climb over the marked in yellow ledges, jumping from one to another, etc.

Find a way into Club Tarsus.

When you come across another locked door, order Nix to tamper with the panel visible through the small window. When he does so, the door will open and you will be able to move on. Keep moving and after a while you will reach the club.

3. Steal the forged identicard in the office.

Now you need to get to the club boss's office. You can do this in two ways. First, go down to the level where the stage is located.

1. To the right of the stage is a passage guarded by a bouncer - Vrell.

Steal the forged identicard in the office.

When you talk to the bouncer you will have two options, you can try to bluff or bribe him (50 credits). The first bluff attempt will fail but that doesn't mean you have to pay him. Just talk to the barmaid and you will learn about the bouncer's vulnerability - it's his speeder.

Return to the bouncer. This time the bluff - you tell him that someone is trying to scrap his speeder - will work. The bouncer will leave his post and you will be able to move on.

2. There is also another way to get inside – through the ventilation duct. To do so, you need a Club Tarsus Keycard. You can steal it from a security guard patrolling the club...

...or find it lying on the table located near the stage.

When you get one, use it to open a locked door located in the side corridor.

In the room you enter you will find a ventilation duct by which you will get further to the offices area.

No matter which way you got into the restricted offices area of the club, eventually you should reach a room with a guard with his back turned to you. Sneak up to the guard, and take him down silently.

Head to the end of the corridor and enter the office. Use the data spike to unlock the barred door on the left and pick up a small box lying on the shelf. There is a forged identicard in the box.

Grabbing the identicard will trigger an alarm. Two guards will come to the office through the main door and Kay will automatically take cover behind the desk. After a moment, a third guard will emerge from a side door.

4. Escape from Club Tarsus

Shoot all the guards and then enter the hallway from which the third guard came out.

Go through the door at the end of the hallway and you will come out at the back alley. Go all the way forward and climb up to the platform above.

Go through the door to the next room. You will come across another guard there. Use Nix to distract him and quickly knock him down.

Escape from Club Tarsus

Head into the next room. You should see another guard with his back turned to you and looking out over the room below. The game will suggest that now is a good time test the stun module of your blaster.

Note: The stun attack must recharge after each use. The cooldown meter is displayed in the lower right corner of the screen and it is quite long.

Escape from Club Tarsus

There are two more guards in the room below and another in the adjacent room located behind a plastic curtain.

If you're patient, you can get rid of them with your blaster's stun module, but if you want you can also use Nix to distract them and take them down, or just shoot them.

Find the entrance to the ventilation duct located in one of the rooms, open it and go inside. This duct will lead you outside to the rooftops.

5. Go back to the Broken Hoof

Go back to the Broken Hoof

Slide down the roof and follow the path forward. At some point you will be required to go through one of the houses. Generally, you should have no problems to reach the cantina. No one will disturb you either.

6. Go to Kay's room

After entering the bar, head up to Kay's attic room.

Go to Kay's room

A cutscene will start, in which the Sixth Kin members turn the bar over in search of Kay.

When it's over this quest will end and the next one - Outlaws - will automatically begin.

After completing this quest, you will be able to play the quest Outlaws.
