This side mission will be made available after the cleansing of the Sakano Shrine. To start this mission talk to the spirit of the woman afraid of shopping arcade.
Akito and KK find a spirit afraid of an invisible being that purportedly leaves no trace save the sound of its own footsteps.

Objectives of The Invisible Wanderer
1. Search the shopping arcade
The search area is to the east of where you are.
Find the sphere of spiritual energy and use spectral vision near it. Tracks will appear on the ground for you to follow.
2. Follow the Tapper's footprints
Follow the footsteps that will lead you to another sphere of spiritual energy, where you will again have to use spectral vision, and so on. Be prepared that you may run into some visitors along the way.
At some point, the footsteps will lead up to the roof.
You can get to the roof by climbing a ladder, which you will find nearby.
On the roof you will find more spheres of spiritual energy.
Eventually they will lead you to a place where a portal will appear.
3. Go inside
Enter the portal. This will transport you to another dimension.
4. Follow the Tapper's footprints
The pattern is the same as before. Follow the footprints, find more spiritual spheres and use spiritual vision to reveal more footprints. Making things more difficult will be the wanderers you will run into in this location.
Some parts of the path you will have to traverse by gliding.
At some point you will have to use the elevator.
A little further on, you will have to jump onto a moving platform to get to the other side.
Then crouch down and walk across a glass "bridge" that is barely visible.
Go through the door at the end of the glass platform and approach the corruption.
5. Purge the corruption
Use spectral vision to locate the heart of corruption and destroy it.
6. Speak with the boy
After removing the corruption, you will be able to talk to the spirit of the boy. When you are done talking then you will automatically return to the rooftop to the place where the portal to another dimension is located.
7. Seal the hole
Make the appropriate seal with which the portal will be sealed.
The mission will end and you will receive rewards for completing it.
It turns out that the invisible being was a child's spirit, one whose body had been trapped in an alternate dimension, leaving him unable to affect this one except through the sound of his footsteps. After returning the child to his body, Akito and KK close the dimensional rift to prevent anyone else from getting caught in it.
