Objectives of Just a Formality
1. Talk to the nearby spider
The door to where the artifact would most likely be was locked. Fortunately, a spider nearby seemed talkative and would most likely provide some insight as to how to get inside.
2. Acquire the formal request
The spider seemed fluent in procedures and formalities. It appeared the only way for him to let Yaga inside was for her to provide some sort of formal request. Supposedly, the document could be acquired from another spider nearby.
And so she headed right to it.
3. Acquire the stamp
Oh, what misfortune... It turned out the document could only be given out stamped with a very peculiar stamp. And this can only be given out by yet another spider.
And so more legwork awaited Yaga.
4. Acquire the license
The stamp could only be given out after presenting a proper license. And it so happened the very first spider Yaga talked to was qualified to give them out.
Believe it or not, dear reader, Yaga went back to the first one of the arachnid bureaucrats.
5. Outsmart the spiders
As you may have guessed, the license could only be given out after presenting a formal request. Yaga already knew such requests could be given out by one of the spiders and yet something – which may or may not have been common sense – told her she would not get the shellok that way.
She needed to break the spiders’ game somehow.
6. Get inside the spiders’ depository
Having outsmarted, or maybe rather terrorized, the spider clerks, Yaga was finally able to get the key to their artifact depository.
What a relief that was.
7. Pick up the Golden Shellok
It turned out that the various offenses the spiders spoke of were not a ploy after all. The culprit was a little mushroom named Blossom. She was indeed guilty of sitting on the spiders’ chair, eating their porridge, and sleeping in their bed.
After a brief conversation with her, it was revealed that Blossom was mighty impressed by Yaga and her recent actions. Her admiration was so deep, she actually raced her to the Golden Shellok, only to give it to her as a gift.
