This mission starts the next day after the bank robbery. You are in your house and you are going to go to Paulie's apartment to split the money you managed to rob from the bank.
Paulie said to meet him at his place to split the money.

Prior missions
To begin The Death of Art you must first complete Moonlighting.
Objectives of The Death of Art
1. Meet Paulie at his apartment
Before you leave home to meet Paulie in his apartment, take the cigarette card lying on the dresser in one of the rooms of your house - Tommy Angelo (#1) (SM),...
... and take the "Dime Detective" magazine lying on the table in the other room - Watch Me Kill You! (#3) (SM).
Then get in the car and drive to Paulie's apartment. Before you enter his apartment, go one floor higher and take the "Gangsters Monthly" comic book lying on a table in the corridor - Moonlighting (#6) (SM).
The door to Paulie's apartment will be open. When you get inside you will see Paulie lying dead on the floor. The money has of course disappeared.
After a while the phone will ring. It's Sam. He will inform you that Salieri has found out about your bank robbery and that you are in danger. Sam will want to help you and you will arrange to meet at the art gallery.
Paulie's dead. Salieri had him killed. Sam says he can help.
2. Meet Sam at the City Gallery / Survive the ambush
Head to the art gallery. When you reach the place and enter the building, you will realize that something is wrong. Soon it will turn out that it was Sam who killed Paulie because he chose family over friends.
Sam killed Paulie. Taking him out is the only way to protect your family.
Sam will order to kill you and walk away. Fortunately, you will be able to free yourself and find a cover. Start by killing three bandits helping Sam.
3. Find Sam / Follow Sam / Kill Sam
You will now have a long chase after Sam through the successive gallery rooms. Of course, Sam will not be alone, he will be accompanied by a large group of other thugs whom you will have to eliminate along the way. They will be equipped with various kinds of weapons, pistols, shotguns or machine guns. They will also have the Molotov cocktails and grenades.
In one of the rooms on the top floor of the gallery you will find a "Super Science Stories" magazine - Legion of the Dark (#13) (SM).
From time to time you will see Sam but you will not be able to kill him yet.
Don't forget to take the cigarette card lying on the windowsill of one of the windows - Valerio Marcano (#18) (SM).
Push through the following rooms, eliminating encountered opponents. At some point you should reach the staircase, where you will be able to get to the upper floor. There you can safely move forward until you reach the room where, on the desk, you will find another "Terror Tales" magazine - The Corpse's Wedding Night (#17) (SM).
When you are ready, kick the door to the next room. Five more opponents will be waiting for you there. Be careful, because one of them has grenades.
At some point you will be able to shoot Sam but he will manage to escape and send another group of his companions on you.
Get rid of them, go down the staircase and kick another door. In the next room you will have a final confrontation with Sam, who will be there alone.
4. Finish Sam
Get closer to Sam and shoot him. Be careful, he has grenades.
Your friendship is over, as is this game.
