In addition to new visuals, improved missions and new gameplay, the developers of the game have added a number of collectibles that can be found in Mafia: Definitive Edition. In most cases, during the mission, when you approach the area with the collectible, it will appear on your minimap.
All collectibles can be divided into a few groups:
Pulps
- Dime Detective Magazines - There are 20 of them to be collected. All "Dime Detective" magazines can be collected during the story missions. You can also collect some of them in "Free Ride" mode.
- Black Mask Magazines - There are 20 of them to be collected. All "Black Mask" magazines can be collected in "Free Ride" mode.
- Super Science Stories - There are 20 of them to be collected. 7 "Super Science Stories" magazines can only be found during the story missions, the remaining 13 can be found in "Free Ride" mode.
- Terror Tales - There are 20 of them to be collected. 5 "Terror Tales" magazines can only be found during the story missions, the remaining 15 can be found in "Free Ride" mode.
Comics
- Gangsters Monthly Comics - There are 10 of them to be collected. 4 "Gangsters Monthly" comics can only be found during the story missions. The remaining 6 can be found in a "Free Ride" mode.
Cigarette Cards
- Cigarette Cards - There are 22 of them to be collected. 17 cigarette cards can be found during the story missions, the remaining 5 can be found in "Free Ride" mode.
Post Cards / Hidden Vehicles
- Post Cards - There are 5 of them to be collected. All "Post Cards" can be found in the exact same location, at the notice board inside "Lucas Bertone's Autoservice" in Downtown in the "Free Ride" mode. You can enter this building after you complete the "Fair Play" mission. "Post Cards" will become available during the story. When you complete the story, they will all be available.
- Hidden Cars - There are 5 "Hidden Cars" in Mafia: Definitive Edition. You can find the cars in "Free Ride" mode. But first you'll have to collect the Post Cards from Lucas Bertone's Autoservice. They are mandatory to make the cars spawn. Subsequent postcards will be available as you progress through the main story of the game.
Mystery Stuffed Foxes
- Mystery Foxes - There are 50 of them to be collected. The mystery foxes don't appear on the mini-map. Instead, you need to be on the lookout for some fox graffiti and follow it to find the fox. 5 "Mystery Foxes" can only be found during the story missions. The remaining 45 can be found in "Free Ride" mode.
Costumes
- Costumes - You can unlock new costumes by progressing in the game's main story, completing the side missions available in "Free Ride" mode, exploring the game's open world in "Free Ride" mode or by bying other Definitive Editions of Mafia Series games.
