1. Learn how to activate the giant Excavator
Find the control room, use the Rockhound Terminal Six > Reactor Technology. You will learn how to craft the Ignition Core quest item.
2. Find or Build Ignition Cores (x/4)
I've discovered an entry in a terminal aboard the Rockhound Excavator describing a part called an Ignition Core. I'll need to find or build four of them at a Tinker Workbench to bring the machine's reactors online.
The tinker's workshop where you can produce cores is located nearby.
To build one core you need:
- 5 x Lead
- 5 x Nuclear Material
- 10 x Steel
3. Install Ignition Cores (x/4)
I've obtained four Ignition Cores. I should plug them into their respective ports in the Rockhound Excavator's reactors.
Find four reactors and instal cores in the Ignition Core Ports.
4. Activate the Rockhound Excavator
All of the Ignition Cores have been installed into the Rockhound Excavator's reactors. I should return to the control room to bring the machine online.
Return to the control room and activate the Rockhound Excavator.
5. Keep the Rockhound Excavator operational to collect ore
I've activated the Rockhound Excavator. I should be able to collect the ore it's extracting from the ground as long as I repair any damage it sustains while it's in operation.
For the next thirty minutes, defend the reactors and repair them if necessary. Over time, Rockhound Excavator will produce more resources. You can grab them from the Ore Extractor container whenever you want and how many times you want.
5.1. Repair the Rockhound Excavator
6. (Quest completed)
The Ignition Cores in the Rockhound Excavator's reactors have been depleted. If I want it to extract more ore from the ground, the Ignition Cores will need to be fully replaced.
